History of Minangkabau Culture
Many people do not know the eaning of the word Minangkabau let alone ask its history. Although derived from the Minangkabau ethnic group itself is very rare that is able to explain clearly and convincingly to people outside the Minangkabau people . It's a phenomenon that greatly concern us all . Especially look at and examine current conditions , many young people who are far from the Minangkabau tradition and religion , even though it has two identities Minangkabau to be proud of that religion and customs.
Two words were said by the Minang ""Adaik nan dak lakang dek paneh, nan dak lapuak dek ujan" (Indigenous which is not cracked by heat and not a side dish by rain). This means that Islam and Customs of the Minangkabau are the guidelines of a society that does not know the limits of time and space to be used world and the hereafter. Wherever located, customs and religion should not be abandoned and should not be allowed, although the times have been so sophisticated and rapidly developing science, but customs and religion remain in his heart Minang people. Minang proverb says "Lamo adaik pusako Obsolete" (Indigenous old, heirloom Obsolete) it must be planted within our generation Minangkabau with philosophy "Adaik Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah" (Adat berdasarkan Syara', Syara' berdasarkan Kitabullah)" (Indigenous based Syara ', Syara' based on the book of Allah).
Dimano asa titiak palito,
Di baliak telong nan batali,
Dari mano asa niniak kito,
Di puncak Gunuang Marapi.
Strands beautiful poem above can be found in the books of indigenous couplets and Natural Tambo Minangkabau. Minangs me-Ma'lum-kan in Tambonya that ninik their fathers ascribed to the ruler and conqueror Alexander the Great's Greek nationals in the Koran called Iskandar Zulqarnain.
Before describing the interpretation of couplets Tambo above authors would like to state that it is very difficult to ascertain the similarities between Alexandernya Zulqarnain Minang People with Zulqarnainnya tauhid ruler in the Qur'an. Likewise with Maha- Alif. Maha- Dipang. And Maha- Dirajo who came to the island Ameh Minang this beloved. This difficulty is felt in the absence of a clear historical evidence to link the two.
As was the custom Minang community oral tradition embodied in their philosophy "
Kok satititiak bapantang lupo, sabarih bapantang hilang, kato nan biaso bakieh, rundiang nan biaso bamisa".Pepatah illustrates that the legend is certainly not the right understanding if dissected with a knife scientific and historical analysis alone. Understanding legend certainly needs to be placed on the surgical field using a knife in the context of allusion and metaphor.
This paper attempts to provide a form of interpretation of the legend which is very debatable. It is possible similarities in the figure legend tale round especially Zulqarnaini with his three sons were in the development of the youngest child of the Maha- Dirajo which then has a successor that we are familiar with Datuak Katumanggungan and Datuak Parpatiah nan Sabatang that dibangsakan with the beginning of the establishment kominitas Minang people.
